The Oak Grove Cheerleading program focuses their energy on esteeming young girls with self-confidence, physical fitness, leadership qualities. Cheerleading offers girls the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of cheerleading including jumps, formations, etc. in a safe, fun environment. Our cheer coaches work with each girl, helping them learn proper posture, drills, and cheers. The registration fee is $60.00 and the uniform fee of $35.00 which includes the uniform usage, and briefs. Parents are expected to participate in the success of the program by assisting with fundraising projects and snack responsibilities.

Welcome to The Oak Grove Athletic Association Cheerleading program.
The OGAA cheer program focuses on esteeming young girls with self-confidence, physical fitness and leadership qualities. OGAA cheer offers girls the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of cheerleading including jumps, formations, basic tumbling and stunting in a safe, fun, family environment. Our coaches work with each girl, helping them learn proper posture, drills, and cheers. Our league allows for four (4) squads that are broken down as follows:
(Age is determined as of August 1st of the current season.)
Mascots (Ages 4-5) Mini Mites (Ages 6-8) Mighty Mites (Ages 9-10) Pee-Wees (Ages 11-12)
Each year we try to expand and improve our squad, our citizenship and visibility in our community. Over the past three years, we’ve secured 1st place division wins for both our Mini Might and Pee Wee squads, 1st place over-all win in our division for our Pee-Wee squad, participated in our first charitable community event, enjoyed our first opportunity to cheer with a local high school in support of breast cancer awareness and hosted the East Wake Cheer Competition. In 2016, we plan to grow our community involvement, cheer again in support of breast cancer awareness and continue to raise the bar for our program on the field, in competition and in the community. We really want our cheerleaders to be young ladies that are known and regarded well and to be a very visible representation of the great things happening at OGAA.
This year, the registration fee will be $35 for Mascots and $60 for Minis, Mightys and Pee-Wees. Because each year we have returning cheerleaders and new cheerleaders all needing different packages of accessories, parents, this year, will be required to order all other required cheer essentials from Campus Teamwear (www.cheerleadingonline.com) allowing for the purchase of only what each cheerleader requires. Registration fees will cover official uniform usage (skirt & vest), league participation and participation in cheer competition.
REQUIRED ADDITIONAL UNIFORM & ACCESSORY ITEMS
Since there are some parents that have sons that play football too, cheer practice will run concurrent to football practice and will be as follows:
Mascots - Thurs 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Minis, Mightys & Pee-Wees - Mon/Thurs 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
**Please note, initially, at least two (2) but maybe all three (3) practices will be to allow the cheerleaders sufficient practice time together to get ready for the first games. After the start of the season, one(2)- all three (3) practices per week will be dedicated to competition preparedness.
Games will be every Saturday in September and October and are on the following approximate schedule:
Fifth Quarter (Mascots) – 4:00 pm
Mini Mites – approximately 4:30 pm after the completion of the Fifth Quarter game
Mighty Mites – approximately 5:30 pm after the completion of the Mini Mites game
Pee Wees – approximately 6:30 pm after the completion of the Mighty Mites game
**Cheerleaders are expected to be at the field 30 minutes before the start of the game in which they will be cheering, in uniform.
Our organization is 100% volunteer operated so parents are expected to participate in the success of the program by assisting with banner and spirit stick preparation, fundraising projects, snack responsibilities, gate and concessions throughout the season. With 100% parental participation, everyone gets to see and support their child(ren) during their performance.
